Great campground to use as a base to explore the Amish area around Lancaster. We took the complimentary bus tour and thoroughly enjoyed it. It turned very hot and the electrical service stayed strong. The shower facilities in the upper section are among the best we've used. The free WiFi was great and signal strong at our site. They are cleaning up a junk yard behind the campground. The negatives were the truck noise from route 30 and it was a pain to enter and exit the campground onto route 30. The farmers market below the campground was nice, but prices were high. This campground permitted campfires, where others in the area don't.
We stayed here overnighting while going on various factory tours in the York area. The campground is rather old and said that they could only accommodate vehicles up to 34'. We were able to comfortably fit our 31' trailer and suburban in the campsite we selected. There were a number of seasonals at the front of the campground. The entrance road and campground road were well graveled. The directions on their website for US-30 Eastbound from Gettysburg were clear, but the roads were narrow and twisty. The road wasn't bad going from the campground to I-83 though. Where we were, adjoining sites used the same electrical box which only had one 30-amp outlet. The gentleman who checked us in was nice and provided suggestions and ideas on areas to visit in York. The campground is fine for an overnight stay, but not a place we would go as a destination or to spend the weekend.
Construction nearly complete. The waterslide and new pool were open, the new sites in the back were filled, and the main entrance had been paved. Ernesto produced a lot of rain Friday evening and into Saturday morning and as a result we received a $10 coupon for our next visit. Small kids will love all the planned activities. We have been coming here for years and the owners are reinvesting into their campground to make it better. There is plenty to see and do in the area too.
Very nice, quiet, wooded campground. About three miles off I-81. We had a water/electric site. There is a pool and they have hayrides and show a movie on Saturday night in their pavilion. They have a small game room. Nice hiking trail up the mountain, but think it is longer than 2 miles as noted on the campground map. Other than that, not much more for kids to do. We used the campground as a base to explore Harrisonburg, which was about 10 minutes away.
Our family has been going to the KOA for years. Great base for exploring the Gettysburg area. The sites are level with lots of gravel. We took a ghost tour Friday night and then Saturday night, the campground had a ghost walk. Free coffee in the mornings and $2.75 pancake breakfast on Saturday and Sunday morning.
What a wonderful campground! We were in the area visiting colleges during spring break and used the campground as a base. The park rangers we spoke to were nice and friendly. One morning they came around to make us aware of a severe storm warning for the area. It was a bit of hike to Raleigh and Durham, but we knew that prior to making reservations. The campground did appear to be under the flight path for Raleigh as we noticed / heard a number of planes on approach. We didn't swim in the lake as it was too cold. The sites were huge. We would definitely camp here again.
